Blood Type
Some interesting information I found about how the Japanese consider people with blood type O to be:
"People with blood type O people are outgoing, energetic and social. They are the most flexible of the blood types. They easily start up projects but often have trouble following through because they give up easily. They are flighty and not too dependable. O types always say what's on their mind. They value the opinion of others and like to be the center of attention. Also, people with O blood are extremely self-confident."
Hardly sounds like Chris, does it? In fact, I'd say that's almost entirely the opposite. He actually sounds a lot more like blood type B, in any case:
"People with blood type B are the most practical of the blood groups. They are specialists in what they do. When they start a project, they spend extra time understanding and trying to follow directions than others might. When they are doing something, all of their attention is focused on it. They tend to stick to a goal and follow it through to the end, even if it seems impossible. They tend to be less than cooperative, as they like to follow their own rules and their own ideas. They are individualists. B type people pay attention to their thoughts a little more than their feelings, and therefore can sometimes seem cold and serious."

Personality
Quite a few different features define Chris Redfield's personality. First and foremost, he's an honourable man. He literally lives to serve and protect, and has dedicated his life in one way or another to helping people. Whether it's protecting his country in the Air Force, whether it's protecting his buddies and workmates out in the field, or whether it's just protecting his little sister, he has spent his life trying to do what's right and to make the world a safer place for all to live in.
Sometimes however Chris can take his desire to serve and protect a little far, which leads to another major feature of his personality; his obsessive nature. Chris isn't a man who can just let things go. He dwells on things until it almost becomes unhealthy, once he becomes focused on something, nothing can get in the way of it. This is evident in his desire to bring down Umbrella. After the Spencer Mansion incident he became so obsessed with finding information to bring the company down he became ragged, angry, impossible for other people to be around. He up and dropped everything to fly to Europe to continue his investigations, telling no-one of where he went, not even his teammates.
Perhaps leading from all of this, we also get the other defining feature of his personality; his temper. Far from being cool-headed, Chris often lets his rage get the better of him, and he flies off the handle at even the smallest of things. Jill mentions in her diary how he once punched a fellow officer in the face because he accidentally spilt coffee on him. Even in the games you can see the rage boiling away whenever he sees an enemy he must face, whether it be Wesker himself or just another mini-boss. This anger has given us the trademark Chris Redfield scowl, a look he's rarely without these days.
Chris is also often described as a very intelligent man. Undoubtedly he is, as he combines that with his immense field experience to get through even the toughest of situations, but Chris can also appear easily confused. The Spencer Mansion incident is a prime example of this. Throughout his time there he appeared utterly confused and clearly had no idea what the hell was going on, an almost permanent perplexed look gracing his face. Although as he uncovers more we start to see that confusion change to anger, and lead to the obsession we see above.
But despite how other media often like to potray Chris (for example, the comics and novels), he's not a thrill-seeking junkie that gets his kicks from killing bioweapons. Yes, he is dedicated to bringing Umbrella down and halting their dangerous experiments, but there's no evidence that Chris takes explicit joy in killing their creatures. In fact, he will really only battle them if there is no other option left to him, and he certainly doesn't take any joy in it. There's no laughing, whooping, or leaping for joy. Just that famous stony glare as he presses on. Chris will stand and fight when needs be, but he takes no real joy in the killing.
Point Man
Chris worked for the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team located in Raccoon City. Even though he was an Airforce pilot beforehand, his position on the team was that of Point Man. It was his job to do reconnaissance for the team and to secure their position on all missions. That means that he was the man to be put in the line of fire first. Chris' counterpart on the Bravo team was Kenneth J. Sullivan.
Chris was also the team's marksman. There wasn't a better shot on either team, or even in the entire R.P.D., and many trophies in the S.T.A.R.S. office happily displayed that fact. Chris has less recoil than many other characters when shooting, and also has the bonus of making more headshots as well. He's a crack shot with an expert aim using any kind of gun.
