Game Secrets
Here are all the Chris-specific extras and secrets from the Resident Evil games, and how to go about unlocking them.
Resident Evil Classic
Alternate Costume
To get Chris' Made in Heaven alternate costume, simply beat Chris' game, making sure to save both Jill and Rebecca. After the end credits you'll see the "You have a Special Key" screen. Save, then next time you start from that saved file you'll have the Closet Key. The location of the Closet is fairly easy to find. It's located in the second door (closest to the back wall, not the map room) in the main hall, you'll need the Armour Key to unlock it. Then head through the next door in there, and then the next door again. You'll find yourself in the closet and you can change your outfit there.
If you own the Director's Cut however there is an easier way to get the Made in Heaven outfit, as well as another additional costume. Simply start the Advanced (Arranged) Mode game and you'll automatically start wearing an alternate costume (only available in this game). To get the MIH outfit, head upstairs and outside to where Forrest resides. Check him, he'll activate and chase you. Kill him and then grab the Armour Key he was sitting on. Head back down and unlock the door with your new key, head through the doors and into the closet, where you'll find your regular outfit and your MIH outfit.
The Sega Saturn version of the game also has an exclusive costume. This time it's a variation of the original S.T.A.R.S. uniform, with a blue undershirt and pants and a black bullet proof vest over the top (very much like a SWAT outfit). To unlock it, make sure both controllers are plugged in and from the moment 'July 1998' appears on the screen hold down L and R on the second controller. Once the game starts you should automatically be wearing the new costume.
Battle Mode
Battle Mode is only available in the Sega Saturn version of RE1. There are two ways to unlock it. Either complete the game as usual to unlock it, or do the following: make sure the game is saved at least once. On the title screen for the second controller hold X, Y, Z and Start. The words 'Resident Evil' should confirm it worked, and you'll then be able to select Battle Mode.
Resident Evil 2
Battle Mode
To get Extreme Battle Mode you must complete both the A and B scenarios with an A ranking. Once that is unlocked, you can get Chris as a playable character simply by completing the first level. He will then be unlocked and available to use.
Alternatively, if you have the PC version of the game it is possible to 'hack' the game (remember to do so at your own risk! Do not do this unless you are entirely comfortable with it, we take no responsiblity!). To unlock all of the special features, open your Registry Editor (select Run from the Start Menu and then Regedit). Navigate through the folders on the left hand side as follows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, Software, CAPCOM, RESIDENT EVIL2. You'll see a whole bunch of files on the right hand side. Right click on GALLERY1 and Modify, change the Value data to ffffffff. Do the same for GALLERY2 through GALLERY5 as well. Then go to the file named SPECIAL, right click and Modify, and change the value data simply to a. Then you're done, next time you open up the game all the extras, including Chris in Battle Mode, will be unlocked.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Epilogue File
To unlock Chris' epilogue file, detailing what he's been up to since Resident Evil 1, you must beat the game on Hard Mode twice. First time you will get Jill's epilogue file, the second time you will get Chris'.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica X
Battle Mode
To unlock CV's Battle Mode, simply complete the game. Once you've finished it will be unlocked and available from the main menu, with Claire and Chris as the opening characters (possibly Steve as well, depending on whether you found the special Luger in the regular game or not).
Resident Evil Remake
Alternate Costumes
Chris has two unlockable costumes in this game. Complete it once to unlock an outfit based off Brad Pitt in The Mexican (available as usual in the closet). Complete the game again and you'll unlock Chris' CV costume.
Unused designs
To see some unused Chris designs you must beat Invisible Mode in under 5 hours. To do this, you must first unlock Real Survivor mode by beating the game (Normal or Hard) in under 5 hours. You then have to beat Real Survivor mode in under 5 hours to unlock the Invisible Enemy Mode. Beat this mode in under 5 hours and you'll get a special message from Shinji Mikami, the game's director, along with a bunch of unused costume designs and some special pictures.
Resident Evil Survivor 2: Code Veronica
Unlockable Character
To unlock Chris as a playable character in Dungeon Mode, you have to beat the 6th Inferno Mission Level. He will then be available with an unlimited ammo Linear Launcher.
